Derek (aka Degsy)Bass guitar, acoustic guitar and vocalsExperiencestarted playing guitar at 16, and performed at school and church in a group informally called 'The God Squad'university life in the 70's got rid of my religious habits and introduced me to other influences surviving that, played and sang in pantomimes and variety shows ... forgive me the long hard slog of a transient career in IT made it difficult to commit to a band, but was the bass player in 'Life Crisis' for a while, a five piece blues and rock covers band, which evolved into a punk band !! next up was The D Cats, again playing bass but this time with a pair of singer song writers, who were later to become Eskimo Jones, and whatever you do dont Google them, cos it aint them !! now playing bass and acoustic guitar, and providing harmonies for J2D2, thanks to Julian for tempting into performing live once again InfluencesSimon and Garfunkel, Moody Blues, mid period Genesis, Ray Wilson and Stiltskin, and anything I can play and sing in the same key !!Not Jazz ...... and not the Blues !!! Dubious claim to famePlayed the bass belonging to Lawrie MacMillan who was in the band Stiltskin who backed Ray Wilson (who made one album as the singer with Genesis) who lived across the car park at the back of my flat in EdinburghAnd now ...Working back in Edinburgh, so if you need a bass player, call me! |
